Sedley Day Care Task Force

Recently, we developed a volunteer community task force which consists of individuals who are passionate about the need for quality child care in our community.  The Task Force has met several times to discuss our vision and circulated a community survey to determine the potential interest/need for a centre in our community.
We wrote a letter of intent to the Early Learning and Childcare Branch of the Ministry of Education.  We were told that our application was not being accepted at that time and that we would be considered in the future as more funding became available.  The task force immediately went back to the table and we are continuing our quest for quality childcare for our community.

In March 2011 the Task Force took a trip down Hwy 48 to visit the day care in Montmartre.  The purpose of this visit was to view the facility, ask questions and hear about the challenges they encountered and what they did to overcome those challenges.

We are also actively working with Prairie Valley School Division to see if there is potential for a partnership with the school division to have day care housed in the school.  This initiative is in its infancy and will need a lot of work and dedication from the Day Care Task Force.

Are you passionate about the need for quality day care in our community?  We need YOU!!  Please contact Shauna Forbes or Lindy Schaeffer if you wish to become a member of the Day Care Task Force.
