The Village of Sedley is a progressive family community with a population of approximately 367 (2021 census) and continually growing. A short drive from Regina, Sedley is the first significant community on Highway 33.
Sedley has a wealth of amenities including a credit union, convenience store, hotel/pub, skating rink, New Horizon’s Community Centre, Prairie Lily Senior’s Housing complex, Gym Hall (which is available to rent for events such as weddings, anniversaries & socials) and a school with grades Kindergarten to Grade 8. High school students are bused a short distance to Vibank School. We are a community with a mix of young families, and retirees.
We provide our residents peace of mind with our Volunteer Fire Department and 1stResponders team.

Fairness, Integrity and Professionalism– We treat all residents, customers, suppliers, co-workers and viewpoints with respect. We apply our policies, processes and by-laws consistently and do not permit favouritism. We place the interests of the community before our individual interests. We say what we mean and mean what we say. We honour our work and keep our commitments. We use the information obtained in our jobs for the intended purpose and refrain from gossiping about municipal activities.
Openness – We are open and transparent with our agendas, information, finances and processes. All municipal decisions are made in a public form and subject to citizens’ scrutiny. We willingly share the reasons for our decisions. We share all information except where legally prohibited.
Responsibility – We are committed to setting and achieving goals, and to making informed decisions in the best interests of Sedley. We are accountable to our community for the work we do, the decisions we make, and the taxpayers’ money we spend.
Compassion– We are willing to consider unique circumstances when our citizens may need support from the municipality.
Strategic Priorities
The current water system is reaching capacity and there is limited serviced land available for residential and business growth. We will require additional financial resources for infrastructure such as water and sewer systems, roads, streetlights and sidewalks.
Enhanced community engagement. Volunteers and engaged citizens can strengthen the community.
Grow population and business base.
Adopt professional governance model to improve effectiveness of Council and staff.
