The Sedley New Horizons Community Centre is a small community hall, fully air conditioned and seats approximately 90 people. Even though it still carries “New Horizons” (a senior’s movement in the late 1970s) in its name, it is NOT exclusively for use by seniors. In fact, it never actually was. After the old building fell into disrepair, the current hall was built in 2001.
Memberships
There is no age limit to join and memberships are $25 per year. A membership is more like a donation now to help keep the facility running. Members do not get keys to the building or reductions on hall rental, but they do have access to the building rent free to use the treadmill, walk laps or play pool with another member.
As a member, you may be asked on occasion to prepare a dessert for a function or luncheon that is being held by the board as a fundraiser.
Events
Some current uses of the centre include: two churches for regular services, a flu clinic in the fall and regular infant immunization clinics held by Saskatchewan Health.
The board also hosts:
Coffee every Monday, Wednesday and Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Everyone is welcome. $2/cup
Crib every second Tuesday of the month. $5/person
The centre is the perfect venue for small functions, luncheons, baby and bridal showers, farewells, meetings, holiday parties and family gatherings, etc.
